Univision Los Angeles affiliate KMEX-TV featured a certification program at the Keck School of Medicine of USC for ophthalmic technicians. The 21-month program, one of only 14 of its kind in the country and the only one in California, not only provides the necessary training for certification, but also requires practice in a clinical setting. Cristian MartÃnez, a recent graduate, said the program allowed him to study, have a job and get certified.
