2/1- Ballot drop-off locations open

2/20- Last day to register to vote for the March 5, 2024 California Presidential Primary Election.

2/24- Vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties

3/5- California Presidential Primary Election

3/12- Deadline to receive Vote-by-mail ballots, must be postmarked on or before Election Day.

Vote By Mail Drop Box Locations at USC

Registered voters in LA County can return their ballot by mail, at a vote center, or to any drop box in LA County including two located on USC’s University Park (UPC) and Health Sciences (HSC) campuses.

On Election Day, all Drop Boxes will be locked at 8:00pm.

How secure is a vote by mail box?

Drop boxes are bolted securely in to the cement or chained in place.

Drop boxes are designed with security features identified in state regulations.

Drop boxes have an exterior coating to reduce permanent graffiti or damage.

Ballots are picked up regularly by two Election Workers.

The county works with law enforcement agencies, cities, local stakeholders, and community-based organizations to monitor and safeguard all boxes.

I’m registered to vote in California but in a different county, can I use any vote by mail box?

Yes! Voters registered in California can place their completed ballot in a Los Angeles County ballot drop box and the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder will forward that ballot to the respective county in California.

I’m registered to vote outside of California, can I use a vote by mail box?

No! Voters registered to vote outside of California shoudl return a vote by mail through USPS. It’s also worth noting that voters registered outside of California should check their state and county rules on returning a vote by mail ballot– state laws do vary.
