The USC Science, Technology and Research (STAR) Program is a collaborative science education venture between the University of Southern California, the National Science Foundation Biomimetic Micro Electronic Systems Engineering Research Center at USC, Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School, El Sereno Middle School and Murchison Elementry School impacting over 2000 students each year.
USC STAR provides a challenging and broad science and math curriculum for Bravo Medical Magnet high school students and an opportunity to work in USC’s world-class research labs.
Bravo Medical Magnet High School, recognized for its remarkable growth and high achievement particularly with an economically challenged student population— 83% of whom fall below the federal poverty line— was awarded the U.S. Department of Education’s highest honor naming it a Blue Ribbon School and it is recognized as a national model high school.
STAR participants have gone on to universities such as USC, Harvard, Princeton, Yale and Columbia.
