USC project that created the striking Black History Month banners lining Trousdale Parkway on the USC University Park Campus was honored today by Los Angeles officials.
During the African American Heritage Month celebration at City Hall, Mayor Eric Garcetti and council members Curren D. Price Jr. and Marqueece Harris-Dawson recognized the groundbreaking project, in which 15 local high school students worked closely with acclaimed muralist Noni Olabisi to capture the African-American experience.
The images show elements of love, struggle, rebellion, achievement and Egyptian royalty.
The artwork will be showcased in the Mayor’s Press Room for the month of February.
