Walkability Workshop
Just like people, neighborhoods age over time: Streets and sidewalks undergo wear and tear, which can increase safety risks for older people. That’s why, on Oct. 27, 2010, the Fall Prevention Coalition, which includes USC’s Fall Prevention Center of Excellence, conducted a “Walkability Workshop” in the Fairfax District. The four-hour workshop included an interactive presentation of walkable community concepts, an expert-led walkthrough and analysis of Fairfax Avenue between Clinton Street and Beverly Boulevard, recommendations for improvement, and a discussion to establish priority issues.
