Health and Science Expo
On April 24, 2009, fourth- and fifth-graders from Griffin Avenue, Murchison Street and Sheridan Street elementary schools - all part of the USC Family of Schools - took over a Health Sciences campus quad for the ninth annual USC Health and Science Expo. The event is the culmination of a project that teams student volunteers from the Keck School of Medicine of USC with elementary schoolchildren for weekly tutoring on basic health and science principles as well as scientific methods of research and inquiry.
At the expo, the youngsters submitted exhibits they had created following their tutoring sessions, covering topics ranging from thermodynamics to heart health.
